Robin Hood marathon

Russell Williams took part in the Robin Hood marathon in Nottingham on the 25.9.16.On a scenic course which took in the castle,Notts County and Forest football grounds,Trent Bridge cricket ground,the horseracing ground and the national watersport complex,Russell finished in 3.27

Weekend round up 17/18 September

Gethin Jones won the 3000 metres at the Menai Track and Field open event in a time of 9.30.This is Gethin’s second track success this summer coming close after his impressive track debut representing North Wales at the Wales inter-region event.Gethin’s recent good form has resulted in him being selected for North Wales again,this time  at the Abergele 5 racing against Cheshire and Staffordshire.Well done Gethin!

After some good runs over longer distances Edith Gruber showed she also has speed in recording a PB over 5k at the Ras y Cob race.Edith’s time was 21.19 and placed her 3rd lady and 1st over 35.

David Billington completed the full Sandman triathlon this year after sampling the sprint version last year.Dave finished in 3.55.36,completing the individual legs as follows :swim 23 13,bike 2.22.29  and run 1.04.39.The results also showed that Dave’s strongest performance was in the swim.

Penrhyn parkrun 17 September 2016

Sion Roberts set himself yet another PB at the weekend in 22.33 (following closely his 10k PB at the Caernarfon 10k) and Ieuan Davies continued his recovery from injury in getting close to his course PB in finishing in 24.44. Kevin Clark recorded another consistent run with a time of 22.57. Chris Williams pushed the buggy around in a time of 29.46 and Paul Maitland finished in 27.07.

Hull Marathon 18 September 2016

After a late decision to run both Michaela Owen and Sue Jones traveled to Hull for the 2nd running of the Hull Marathon. On what looks a decent course taking in the Humber bridge and running past Hull FC’s ground both were amongst the category awards. Michaela was 2nd in her category in a time of  3.43.26 and Sue 2nd in her category in 4.32.15. This was only 2 weeks after both ran the Wolverhampton marathon which is an incredible achievement but even more incredible is that this was Michaela’s 21st marathon this year and Sue’s 52nd in total.

New PB for Chris Thomas

Congratulations to Chris Thomas for setting himself a new half marathon personal best time at the Lake Vyrnwy half marathon on the 11th September. Chris knocked nearly a minute off his previous best time set at Chester in finishing in 1.28.44b

Caernarfon 10k

Gethin Jones led a successful Cybi Striders team at the Caernarfon 10k which also incorporated the North Wales 10k championship in being crowned North Wales champion,finishing in a personal best time of 33.27.There were also good performance’s by a number of his team mates.Rhys Owen, Jason Thomas and Edith Gruber  also picked up North Wales medals in their respective categories and there was personal best times for James Hooton,Nigel Holmes,Sion Roberts and Diane Holmes.
Ryan Roberts and Gethin Jones travelled to Cardiff for the  Cardiff 10k,racing against some of the best runners in the country. In a top quality field Ryan representing North Wales at the event finished in 40th place in 33.16 whilst Gethin finished in 53rd in 33.45.
Jason Thomas was the 1st Cybi in at the Awyr Las 5k,finishing in 4th place in a time of 19.36.Other Cybi results were :7th Russell Williams 21.09,14th David Ellis 22.15,16th Nigel Holmes 22.40,20th Edith Gruber 23.18,22nd Sion Roberts 23.42,36th Sian Ellis 25.33,55th Diane Holmes 27.22
Alwyn Williams completed in one of the last fell races of the season when he completed the Gladstone 9 in 2.08.
